Explore Possibilities
This photo shows the team working with one of our mentors, Mr. Mac, through de-assembling a fire extinguisher to dissect the extinguisher and explore further possibilities in terms of how we can optimize a fire extinguisher for our project.

Research and Generate Ideas
We engaged in Researching and generating ideas for FARM (Fire Autonomous Response Mechanism)
The IR Sensor team discussed the IR design with Mr. Smith, the team and Mr. Smith discussed voltage and temperature threshold and what the ideal relationship should be for F.A.R.M
The team also discussed the implementation of a CPU to create a pulley system for F.A.R.M

Identify Criteria and Constraints
In the photo our research and development team spoke to one of our mentors, Mr. Mac, about the feasibility of our product idea, specifically regarding the autonomous features and the infrared system we wanted to implement. We established the constraints and limits of our project.
Students did research on fires, and on patents of products with similar objectives as ours to help us pick the best features for our product that fit within established constraints.

Define the Problem
To the left of this post you can see our head of research proposing the problem of kitchen grease fires to the class with patents to get the team thinking about solutions to our problem.
This is the first step of design process. Our team used a decision matrix and proposed different problems to our mentors, Mr. Mac and Mr. Panchal, who judged the proposals.

Brainstorm
Our team brainstormed different mechanisms and solutions that solved the problem statement.
