Mentors hard at work!
Fabrication mentor Mr. Mac and F.A.R.M's lead teacher Mr. Panchal collaboratively hard at work on shaping a piece of the release mechanism!

Brain Macwilliam (Fabrication Mentor)
Mentor and 3D Printing Supervisor.
Mr. Mac contributed to the research process by advising different implementations and background information on the fire extinguishers.
Advice that contributed to our research:
1. Unscrewing the top of the fire extinguisher is feasible for everyday homeowners.
2. We need to consider the surface area because we need to know how much of the fire can be extinguished.
3. Infrared is a good idea for a release mechanism. IR is more effective than was because it can detect fires more accurately, instead of using temperature- sensitive wax
4. For IR sensing, we need to program the system to not detect and release on things that are easily mistaken as fires in the kitchen
