Your Passion. Your Purpose.

At the start of this project I wanted to conduct thoughtful and impactful research to spread awareness of the Impostor Syndrome. Not only this but I also planned to deliver a message to my audience, specifically students at Career. I had hoped that the research, analysis, statistics and other things that I provided we're well enough to be accurate and persuasive. I knew that I wanted my audience to walk away feeling they've learned something or have identified the Impostor Syndrome in their lives. For further research and evidence of Impostor Syndrome I planned to conduct meetings and interviews from classmates and teachers, including their personal experience with Impostor Syndrome. To the extent one does not experience Impostor Syndrome, I planned to still attempt to provide any of there information, which seems fit to mention.

Another goal I had in this project is using entrepreneurial experimentation. This experimentation I call Erazer is just an eraser I had hoped to make that's appealing and eco-firendly. I expected to make guesses and hypothesize in order to obtain a well enough formula to work with. If successful, and eraser's we're functional, I planned to sell them at Career's school store, recording the sales and the products interest. I planned to frequently document on how often I would work on the Erazer project, mentioning my struggles, and how I felt. But really the sole purpose in making an eraser was to see whether or not I had experienced Impostor Syndrome. If I did, It may prove the fact as to why ethnic minorities are more susceptible to the syndrome. If I didn't then I planned to initiate my over all experience in writing and possible future outlooks for myself as a entrepreneur.

SWOT Analysis

Diving into this topic it is certain that there will be challenges along the way. Specifically in producing a functional eraser (Erazer). There may be some failures in making it and a lot of thinking. Some strengths I know that I have are, existing knowledge of my topic, human resources and technology. I know this is sufficient enough for me to create a thoughtful, unique capstone. Some opportunities I see as well are networking. I may loop back around with HPREP and get there thoughts and ideas on my capstone. Since they introduced Impostor Syndrome to me, HPREP must know more and have resources for me to go to. In the event my capstone is accurate and consistent I see it as an opportunity to spread awareness, and not just an assignment. There may also be the opportunity of sales for Erazer, if successful. I expect that in conducting research there will be a lot of challenges as to what to present to my audience. This may also present some weakness. But that being said I'm hopeful and that regardless of what happens I can tweek my plans and ideas, making my capstone as unique as possible. Some other weakness I see are, not utilizing all of my resources and outside conflicts that interfere with me contributing to my capstone. Possible threats in the future may be having insufficient funding for my experimentation with Erazer. Or I may spend more time needed then I initially had thought with Erazer. I also see time management being a threat, since I work three days a week and involved in sports, while managing school.

I've learned that after conducting my elevator pitch that body language is very important, as that it is the direct impression others get from you. This has challenged me along with the short time given to directly state what my project is about, with at least words as possible.

Capstone Proposal

Artifact: Capstone Proposal

My capstone project is about spreading awareness on Impostor Syndrome. It is relevant to all our lives, specifically to women and those who are ethnic minorities such as myself. Impostor Syndrome infects one’s mind into believing that their achievements and positions in life were based on luck and may feel unworthy of their success. This not only works internally but is caused by external influences as well. I hope that in my research of the Impostor Syndrome one may get an understanding and use my capstone as a reflection and examination as to whether or not the syndrome is prevalent in their lives. My inspiration for this project is based on the possibility and relevancy of this syndrome in my life, its demographics and who it affects and why, how I may encounter it and fight it, and imagining to set up a foundation for others based on this project and recognize their worth.
