For my community outreach, I talked to multiple people about their kids and how their autism has affected. By asking them plus a therapist, Jil Frey I was able to better understand it more than just from my perspective growing up in a house with my brother who was diagnosed with high functioning autism at the age of 5.

Throughout my project I was determined to stay professional and respectful. When I was asking questions about autism and how it has affected their life, I made sure that I worded it right so it didn't come off as offensive. I also made it clear that if any of the questions were too touchy or uncomfortable that they DID NOT have to answer (especially for the interviews).

By choosing to pursue this project, I was taking a risk. Not knowing anything about creating a website or editing videos, I would have never even thought about doing this project if it wasn't for my passion. Using a high-tech camera i've only seen professionals use was hard to figure out but I did it and video taped what I needed to and thats what this whole project is about. Putting myself out there and being susceptible to failure, but mostly, being able to surpass those failures and problem solve.

My personal growth through out this project has been unexplainable. Totally out of my comfort zone for the whole thing, not really a tech person, but I was willing to put in the extra work to help bring my project together. My passion for this project has been my drive over everything else.

The academy has set me up throughout the years to be successful in creating my capstone project. Learning all the different skills and steps that are involved in this process just makes this experience more interesting. Though, winning first place freshman year and second place our junior year, there definitely is a standard that i'm determined to reach.
