Reflective Essay #1
I realized my advisor is perfect for my topic, and she is very knowledgeable about my topic and about research techniques. She helped me adjust my research question and get rid of unnecessary words. My question had “evaluate” and “discuss” and they meant different things, and redesigning my question set up me up for success. She also helped me understand what my final essay would look like if I chose to use the word evaluate, and I did. We discussed what to be careful for when looking at certain sources and where to find credible and relevant information. Overall, it was a very beneficial meeting that helped put me on the right course for the future.

Reflective Essay #2
I met with my advisor and she looked over my annotated bibliography. She addressed my sources and mentioned that I needed to include more Vietnamese perspectives. She also said I needed to remove any sources that I didn’t use. I used this advice and I worked on adding more Vietnamese perspectives and looking over my sources. Reflecting on this I would have found a wider variety of sources from the start. I also would have found a lot more, because having to look for sources while writing the paper was not very organized. At this time, if I was more organized with my time and had organized my info better I would have put myself on a better course.

Reflective Essay #3
I met with my advisor and we were both very happy that we had finished this entire process. She asked me the final questions about my paper and I answered all of them confidently. I will use the skills I learned in this process in writing my other papers and IAs. The biggest thing I took away from the Extended Essay process was the set up. If I had found more sources and found a ton of information I would have had so much more to pick from. This would have made it a lot easier to write the actual essay. Another huge part I had trouble on was picking out information that was relevant. My advisor said that some of my information was narrative, and I know now that I need to be more careful and thoughtful when creating my outline.
