Our project began during the initial stages of formulating ideas for our class project. Realizing we live in a society in which there is a thick stigma against teenage mental health issues, we wanted to put a stop to it through an app. We wanted to provide a safe place by teens, for teens. It then gained traction and it was in the final two ideas. We pitched, and originally it was not chosen to be our final project idea, but after we faced too many issues with the other idea, we went back to VibeCheck.
Now, there's even more of a reason to have VibeCheck; coronavirus is putting tremendous strain on teens. We want to take action through this app. We want to both end the stigma of teenage mental health and provide a safe place for teens to be themselves and have a community of people to support them.
As said previously, VibeCheck is breaking boundaries by breaking the stigma of mental health issues in teens specifically, which has not been done before.
