Project Overview
The topic I was interested in learning about is becoming a Surgical Nurse. This type of nurse is referred as a theatre nurse or scrub nurse that specializes in perioperative care that provides care to patients. Nurses work directly with doctors during surgery, help control bleeding, watch for signs of complications, perform stitches, apply bandages and more. They also work directly with a doctor and give assistance in whatever way is needed during the actual surgery.
Project Inspiration
Growing up I have always wanted to be a surgeon because my uncle is a doctor, and growing up and knowing him and how he does his job with helping others really inspired me to become one in the future. I chose Surgical nurse as my topic because I was interested in learning about what they do, and what kind of job they work with to help their patients. While studying about surgical nursing I found really good things about it for example, nurses help patients come out of their anesthesia, helping them stabilize and prepare for transfer to another unit of the hospital, or for discharge for out-patient procedures. They update them on their status, work with family members, take vital signs, and ensure the patient is comfortable. I really like how they work with their patients.
