Budget

This document is supposed to supplement what it would cost to run an experiment for Clean Culture to ensure that it would work. One concern that may come up in relation to this document is that it is a high-cost experiment, but this is only what an experiment would be like to test this out to scale. A school experiment would most likely be much cheaper and rely on less people.

Time Management Plan

Wednesday, January 08, 2020

Attached is my time management plan, where I planned how I was going to be using my time this year. I have points where I will meet with my teacher and other important checkpoints that will make sure my project is completed by the Expo.

Learning Stretch

Wednesday, January 08, 2020

I've learned a lot about the how the environment is being destroyed by methane and what we are doing to slow climate change. Methane emissions are becoming a problem that is more recognizable and something many more people are trying to fix.

Recently I have also been learning about how to work from home on something that I need in school time for. English class and Math can be done from home through distance learning, but it is something that I have change for Capstone. To me Capstone and the rest of the academy is something that is required to do in person because of the feedback that you can get in a classroom.

Tornado

Connections to Past Experiences

Wednesday, January 08, 2020

The current state of Skills21 is very similar to two years ago when there was a tornado and my school was unable to go to Expo. While that might have closed only our school and the schools around us and this is a much larger scale, and is effecting all of Connecticut in ways no one has really ever experienced. While this is something on a completely different scale.

Personal Growth

Wednesday, January 08, 2020

Recently I have developed time management skills, that I hadn't had before due to being stuck at home and having assignments and sections of my project due at different times. It's interesting not having to work every single day on my work to make sure that it is completed. While in school even though I didn't have class every day, I was doing the school work at night. This different environment makes me think that I will be slightly more prepared for my college experience of not having the same classes every other day and not having work due for weeks at a time.

Hands

Audience Engagement

Wednesday, January 08, 2020

I created engagement during the COVID-19 break by questioning my peers on their knowledge of methane emissions from livestock and methanotrophs as a possible solution. I created a Google form that allowed me to ask questions of my peers and collect their answers all in one place. I discovered that 71.5% of people didn't know that livestock was the largest contributor to methane pollution in the atmosphere. I then asked if any of the participants knew of any current solutions to dealing with the amount of methane in the atmosphere and not one person knew of a solution that already existed. That is one thing that was important to my project because it shows that there is a possibility for my project to fill this gap. Lastly, I explained what methanotrophs were and what I planned to do with them to build them up to my question "Do you think Clean Culture is a possibility?". This question was met with many yeses, but a few questioning people wanting to know more before they confirmed or denied. I think this helped me see that my project was something needed in the market.
